Transitional Age Youth

Epworth Apartments

A supportive housing community for transitional age youth who are facing mental health issues, Epworth Apartments addresses the housing concerns of graduates of the foster system who are struggling to get the resources to enter society as adults. Located six miles south of downtown Los Angeles, the project consists of a four-story building with 20 apartments equipped with full kitchens, appliances, and basic furnishings. There is a community room, courtyard, picnic area, and underground parking garage on the property.

Three local nonprofit organizations were involved in the development of Epworth Apartments. United Methodist Ministries was the owner of the site and sought out Little Tokyo Service Center Community Development Corporation to develop the project because of its extensive real estate experience. The Coalition for Responsible Community Development joined the partnership because of its experience providing services to transitional age youth in South Los Angeles. Little Tokyo Service Center CDC is the managing member of the partnership.
