Combining HUD 811 and LIHTC

Genesee Housing in Seattle was the first project in the country to successfully combine Genesee Housingfunding from the HUD 811 program and the LIHTC program. The 811 program, an offshoot of the HUD 202 program for elderly housing, is designed to provide housing for people with disabilities. The $9.1 project offers an extensive array of services and houses generously sized 50 one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Verne Barry Place

Verne Barry Place is a creative example of building preservation and adaptation in Grand Rapids, Mich., designed to meet the needs of some of the area’s lowest-income residents. NEF invested $13.5 million on behalf of eight investors to fund this impressive "green" development.

The 116-unit supportive housing project, developed by Dwelling Place, Inc., features seven commercial spaces and serves homeless residents, including veterans.
