Supportive Housing: Recovering Substance Abusers

O'Brien House SRO is a $3 million new construction development sponsored by non-profit O'Brien House (OBH). The three-story residential building in Baton Rouge, LA will O'Brien Houseinclude 32 housing units for former alcohol and drug dependent, and/or homeless, people able to live independently with minimal support services. It is expected that O'Brien House SRO residents will be graduates of O'Brien House social service programs that are seeking permanent housing near OBH provided services. A general lack of longer term transitional supportive housing in Baton Rouge is the primary reason for this SRO project. The facilities are primarily for those in early recovery who have recently been stabilized. After 6 months of clean and sober living, graduates will move into O'Brien House SRO and have their own room. Graduates will still need case management and support meetings. In one to two years residents will be ready to re-enter the housing market.
